Broker candidates deserve special treatment, so this course is designed to insure that each student for the broker’s exam passes on the first attempt. Here’s what the course includes:
1) Access to our interactive website to strengthen mastery of the basics. I recommend to all broker candidates that you do the website work, as this lays a good foundation for the
more sophisticated information you will be required to handle on the broker’s exam.
2) In class, study questions will be presented in notebook form representing all seven topical categories as stated by the DRE. The questions are an effective combination of those very similar to what is expected on the exam, and some that are written simply to teach the concept. You will take your binder home with those questions covered in class, as well as other questions for additional study.
Questions will be organized into the following subject categories as indicated by the DRE according to their level of emphasis:
1. Property Ownership and Land Use Controls and Regulations (15%)
2. Laws of Agency (12%)
3. Valuation and Market Analysis (11%)
4. Financing (13%)
5. Transfer of Property (10%)
6. Practice of Real Estate and Mandated Disclosures (27%)
7. Contracts (12%)
3)Critical thinking exercises will be conducted at the beginning of each section, challenging you to put concepts in your own words, and guiding you through that process. An example would be, “In your own words, answer the question, ‘What is a broker?’” After five minutes of devising your own answer, a suggested answer will be presented to make you aware of some of the aspects of brokerage you should be including in your understanding.
